BEATTY, Alexander S., a Representative from Crawford County; born April 5, 1831 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, Pa.; mail agent, New York, Pennsylvania & Ohio Railroad, between Meadville and Oil City (1864-1868); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Shaw’s Landing (1870-1885); farmer and dairyman; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1888); died, February 3, 1890 in Shaw’s Landing, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cochranton Cemetery, Cochranton, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
