BALSEY, George J., a Representative-elect from Franklin County; born, April 17, 1827 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pa.; engaged, mercantile business (15 years); elected, treasurer, Franklin County (1863-1864); deputy treasurer, Franklin County (1866-1867); appointed, deputy collector of internal revenue, Franklin County (1869-1872); director and secretary of the board, Baltimore and Cumberland Valley Railroad; farmer; tax director, Antrim Township (1884-1885); elected to the Pennsylvania House of the Representatives as a Republican in 1886; died prior to taking the oath of office, April 12, 1887 in Washington Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
