ALTMAN, Dr. William H., a Representative from Jefferson County; born, October 20, 1825 in Indiana, Indiana County, Pa.; M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1853; major, assistant surgeon (1862-1863), surgeon (1863-1865), 28th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War); physician (1848-1862); druggist; elected, associate judge, Jefferson County (1870-1875); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1885 and 1887 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1889 term; died, March 20, 1890 in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interred Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
