WALK, Dr. James Wilson, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, March 14, 1853 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pa.; B.A., Lafayette College, 1875; M.D., University of Pennsylvania Medical School, 1878; superintendent, Northern Home for Friendless Children (1873-1878); physician; secretary, Philadelphia Society for Organizing Charity (1882-1889); editor, Monthly Register; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 and 1889 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1891 term; appointed, director, Philadelphia Charities and Correction (1892-1897); director, Philadelphia Bureau of Health (1897-1899); lecturer on sociology, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; died, January 19, 1918 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
