SMITH, Winfield Scott, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, November 22, 1847 in Bainbridge, Lancaster County, Pa.; engaged, mercantile business; ticket and freight agent, Pennsylvania Railroad (1866); member, Lancaster County Republican Committee; organizer and director, Elizabethtown National bank; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886 and 1888; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1891-1894); died, September 16, 1920 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bainbridge Cemetery, Bainbridge, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
