SHOEMAKER, Joseph Ambler, a Representative from Montgomery County; born, May 13, 1826 in Gwynedd Township, Montgomery County, Pa.; blacksmith apprentice (8 years); engaged, buying and selling horses (1 year); employed, sawmill (3 years); butcher (32 years); farmer; assessor; elected, council, Jenkintown; election officer, Jenkintown; director and treasurer, North Philadelphia Stockyard Company; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886 and 1888; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); died, October 11, 1905; interred, Abington Friends Cemetery, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
