TIGUE, Thomas M., a Representative from Lackawanna, Luzerne and Monroe Counties; born in Pittston, Luzerne County, Pa., August 24, 1945; graduated, St. John’s High School, 1964; B.A., government, King’s College, 1968; attended, Marywood College; second lieutenant, Infantry Platoon Commander, United States Marine Corps (1968-1971, Vietnam War: Silver Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Naval Defense Medal recipient); colonel, United States Marine Corps Reserves (1971-1995; Operation Desert Storm, 1991); counselor, Pennsylvania Department of Welfare (1971-1973); computer programmer, Metropolitan Life Insurance (1973-1978); school director, Pittston Area School District (1977-1981); business manager, Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority (1978-1981); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1981 term; reelected to 12 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (2006); gubernatorial appointee, Judicial Conduct Board of Pennsylvania (2013-2016); died, February 1, 2016 in Hughestown, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
