PUGH, James L., a Representative from Somerset County; born, August 14, 1844 in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); graduated, Michigan University School of Law, 1874; private, Company D, 133rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); teacher; appointed, superintendent, Somerset Public Schools (1870-1872); attorney-at-law; elected, District Attorney, Somerset County (1875-1878); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 and 1889 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); hotelier; died, July 12, 1913 in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
