POTTS, William Ramsay, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born July 26, 1836 in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Pa.; first sergeant, Company B, 6th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); second lieutenant, Company B, 27th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); attorney-at-law; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1870); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876, 1877 and 1888; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878, 1890); died, March 9, 1899 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
