LENKER, Valentine, a Representative from Dauphin County; born, July 12, 1838 in Washington Township, Dauphin County, Pa.; served, Company E, 92nd Regiment, 9th Pennsylvania Volunteer Calvary (1861-1864, Civil War); harness maker, United States Army, Washington, DC (1864-1865, Civil War); engaged, saddle and harness making and carriage trimming; horse dealer; elected, chief burgess, Berrysburg; elected, justice of the peace, Berrysburg; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886 and 1888; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); died, May 3, 1901 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Methodist Cemetery, Berrysburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
