ELLIOT, Andrew Jackson, a Representative from Armstrong County; born, March 24, 1833 in Butler County, Pa.; sergeant, Company A, 37th Regiment, 8th Pennsylvania Volunteer Reserves (1861-1864, Civil War); carpenter and contractor; appointed, deputy sheriff, Armstrong County (1861); elected, burgess, Leechburg (2 terms); engaged, furniture business; elected, justice of the peace, Leechburg (1874-1894); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 and 1889 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1900); died, November 26, 1915 in Leechburg, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania; interred, Evergreen Cemetery, Leechburg, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
