DODGE, George Washington, a Representative from Potter County; born, December 21, 1843 in Pike, Wyoming County, NY; attended, Pike Seminary, NY; sergeant, Company F, 5th Regiment, New York Volunteer Cavalry (1861-1864, Civil War); dairy farmer; lumberer; proprietor, mercantile business; elected, clerk, Sharon Township (1881); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1888; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Shinglehous, Pa. (1897-1905); president, First National Bank of Shinglehouse; died, January 9, 1931 in Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York; interred, Sharon Center Cemetery, Sharon Center, Potter County, Pennsylvania.
