BROWN, Hartford Perry, a Representative from Beaver County; born, August 7, 1851 in Raccoon Township, Beaver County, Pa.; graduated, Beaver Academy; graduated, Duff’s Business College; attended, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY; general bookkeeper, Second National Bank of Pittsburgh (1872-1873); engaged, mercantile business (1876-1879); builder and operator, “Carrier” steamboat (1880-1884); wholesale tobacco retailor (1884-1887); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 and 1889 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); secretary and general manager, Beaver Valley Traction Company; director, Peoples Insurance Company of Pittsburgh; died, October 26, 1918 in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
