SWARTZ, William R., a Representative from Perry County; born in Watts Township, Perry County, Pa., September 14, 1840; graduated, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); ordained Methodist Episcopal minister; teacher; general store clerk; proprietor, mercantile business; representative, Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York (1885); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1889 and 1891 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); messenger and clerk, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (1915-1925); died, February 24, 1926 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hill Church Cemetery, New Buffalo, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
