SNYDER, Dr. William Preston, a Representative from Chester County; born, October 7, 1851 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville Univesity of Pennsylvania); attended, Ursinus College; M.D., University of Pennsylvania, 1873; teacher (1868-1869); physician; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Republican Convention (1878, 1882); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Spring City, Pa. (1883-1885); medical examiner, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (1886-1887); elected, prothonotary, Chester County (1887-1891); elected, chair, Republican County Committee (1890); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1890; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1893-1904); elected, Senate President pro tempore (1899-1900); elected, Auditor General of Pennsylvania (1904-1907); died, June 18, 1920 in Kimberton, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, East Village Reformed Cemetery, Spring City, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
