JOHNSON, John Cyrus, a Representative from Cameron County; born, September 20, 1838 in Lisle, Broome County, NY; graduated, literature, University of Michigan, 1861; LL.B., University of Michigan School of Law, 1866; captain, Company K, 149th Regiment, "Bucktails," Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War; prisoner of war, 1863-1865); attorney-at-law; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1889 and 1891 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1892); died, April 16, 1925 in Washington, District of Columbia; interred, Newton Cemetery, Emporium, Cameron County, Pennsylvania.
