HAYS, Frederic William, a Representative from Venango County; born, March 17, 1842 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; graduated, Allegheny College, 1861; reporter and editor, Crawford Journal (1861-1868); assistant assessor, internal revenue, Oil City (1868-1870); attorney-at-law (1870-1927); notary public (1871-1889); city solicitor, Oil City (1874-1884, 1914-1915); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1889 and 1891 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1893 term; elected, president, city council, Oil City (1910-1911); attorney, Oil City Trust Company (15 years); died, May 6, 1927 in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
