FRUIT, James Satterfield, a Representative from Mercer County; born in Jefferson Township, Mercer County, Pa., October 17, 1849; attended, Edinboro State Normal School (now Edinboro State University of Pennsylvania); clerk; proprietor, hardware stores, J.S. Fruit, & Co., Fruit, Ohl & Co., and Fruit-Ohl Company; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1884); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 term; reelected to serve 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1893-1896); internal revenue collector, United States Department of Treasury, Pittsburgh district; died, February 2, 1902 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
