DUNKLE, John Cleaver, a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, December 25, 1847 in Franklin County, Pa.; graduated, Duff’s Business College; private, Company I, 201st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); major, Company A, 5th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers (1887-1909, Spanish American War); employed, tannery; farmer; engaged, lumber business; operator, planning mill and sash and door factory; member, Huntingdon School Board; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1890; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); engaged, insurance business; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1920); died, March 21, 1929 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
