DAVIS, Elias, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, November 16, 1855 in Wadesville, Schuylkill County, Pa.; slate picker and coal miner; traveling pharmaceutical salesman; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1886; reelected to the House for 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Schuylkill County (1894); elected, chair, Schuylkill County Republican Convention; elected, treasurer, Schuylkill County (1896-1899); died, November 11, 1899 in New Castle, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
