COOKE, George Whitney, a Representative from Wyoming County; born, October 3, 1856 in Beaumont, Wyoming County, Pa.; farmer; elected, surveyor, Wyoming County (1878-1887); enumerator, United States Census (1880); land surveyor, Mehoopany Mining and Manufacturing Company; elected, treasurer, Wyoming County (1888-1890); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1890; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1892); forest surveyor, Union Tanning Company; mining engineer, A. Pardee & Company; civil engineer; died, January 18, 1930 in Washington, District of Columbia; interred, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Prince George’s County, Maryland.
