BAIN, John W., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Reading, Berks County, Pa., March 19, 1843; first sergeant, Company C, 59th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1861-1864, Civil War); school director (3 years); elected, common council, Philadelphia (4 years); coal merchant; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1889 and 1891 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1893 term; died, August 11, 1904 in Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey; interred, North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
