THOMAS, James Jacob, a Representative from Cambria County; born, September 27, 1838 near Loretto, Cambria County, Pa.; farmer; teacher; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877 and 1893 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1878, 1895); appointed, United States Storekeeper and Gauger (1885-1889); member, Pennsylvania State Board of Agriculture; died, February 1, 1911 in Carrolltown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, Carrolltown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
