BROUGHAL, Lawrence J., a Representative from Northampton County; born, January 22, 1855 in South Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pa.; graduated, Penrose High School, 1869; ironworker; superintendent of rolls, Bethlehem Iron Company; elected, council, South Bethlehem (1876-1887); co-founder and director, South Bethlehem National Bank; hotel proprietor (1885-1913); elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1890); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1892; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1894); elected, school board, South Bethlehem (1905-1918, 1923-1932); died, December 30, 1932 in Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
