STINEMAN, Jacob Croyle, a Representative from Cambria County; born, April 9, 1842 in Richland Township (now Adams Township), Cambria County, Pa.; sergeant, Company F, 198th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); farmer; engaged in the coal industry; president, Stineman Coal and Coke Company; school director, South Fork (15 years); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Cambria County (1885); elected, sheriff, Cambria County (1888-1890); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1889); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1893 and 1895 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1897 term; director, Citizens’ National Bank of Johnstown; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1897-1908 and 1913); died while in office of the Senate, April 2, 1913 in South Fork, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, South Fork Cemetery, South Fork, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
