SMILEY, Alfred Wilson, a Representative from Clarion County; born, July 16, 1843 in Union Township, Erie County, Pa.; farmer; engaged, various positions, oil industry; organized, Foxburg, St. Petersburg and Clarion Railroad Company; organized, Foxburg, Kane and Bradford Railroad Company; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887, 1889, and 1895 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890, 1896); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1902); justice of the peace, Richland Township; died, June 4, 1927 in Richland Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania; interred, Memorial Episcopal Church of Our Father Cemetery, Foxburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
