KEPHART, Harmon M., a Representative from Fayette County; born, July 17, 1865 at Frankstown, Blair County, Pa.; attended, McAlisterville State Soldiers’ Orphan School; locomotive fireman, Pennsylvania Railroad (1882-1883); locomotive fireman (1883-1885), engineer (1885-1895), Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1895 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1896); proprietor, Smith House, Connellsville (1897-1948); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1899 term; member, Republican State Committee; elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1908); appointed, chief clerk, Pennsylvania State Senate (1909-1916); engaged, real estate and coal business; elected, Pennsylvania State Treasurer (1917-1920); died, April 19, 1948 in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; Interred, Old Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
