GRINER, James R., a Representative from Luzerne County; born, January 2, 1843 in Winslow, Camden County, NJ; private, Company I, 7th Regiment, United States Army (1863-1866, Civil War); laborer, glass works; locomotive fireman, New York & Erie Railroad (7 years); coal miner; steel and iron worker, Sheldon Axle Company of Wilkes-Barre; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1894; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1896); proprietor, Pullman House of Duryea; night watchman, Robinson & Monie; died, January 19, 1918 in Moosic, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
