SLOAN, Dr. James Gordon, a Representative from Washington County; born, January 18, 1841 in Frankfort, Beaver County, Pa.; graduated, Jefferson College (now Washington and Jefferson College), 1862; M.D., Georgetown College (now Georgetown University), 1869; corporal, company G, 140th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War); clerk, General Land Office, United States Interior Department; physician; elected, auditor, Monongahela; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1896; died while in office, November 2, 1897 in Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
