GRIFFITH, Evan Arthur, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, May 12, 1860 in New Philadelphia, Schuylkill County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); legal clerk; engaged, mercantile business; proprietor, The Senate, hotel and saloon, Mahanoy City; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1896; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1898, 1902); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1900); deputy register, Office of the Register and Recorder, Schuylkill County; unsuccessful campaign, clerk of courts, Schuylkill County (1905); deputy sheriff, Schuylkill County; appointed, assistant bond clerk, Pennsylvania State Treasury; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Schuylkill County (1913); died, December 21, 1914 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
