CHIDSEY, Charles Francis, a Representative from Northampton County; born, December 25, 1843 in Easton, Northampton County, Pa.; graduated, Lafayette College, 1864; private, Company D, 129th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); first lieutenant, Company C, 38th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); clerk, Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company; assistant secretary, Warren Foundry and Machine Company; president, Lehigh and Eastern Railroad Company; elected, school board president, Easton (1876-1877); appointed, prison inspector, Northampton County (1881-1886); elected, council, Easton (1883-1886, 1913-1916); elected, alternate delegate, Republican National Convention (1884); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1884); elected, mayor, Easton (1887-1889); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1896; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1906); unsuccessful campaign, Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania (1910); elected, city commissioner, Easton; died, January 11, 1933 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
