MARTIN, Algernon Luther, a Representative from Lawrence County; born, August 26, 1844 in North Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pa.; attended, Poland Union Seminary, Oh.; farmer; school director, Little Beaver Township (8 years); enumerator, United States Census (1890); elected, road supervisor, Little Beaver Township (1891-1892); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1893, 1895 and 1897 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1899 term; deputy secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (1899-1919); director, Farmers’ Institutes, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (1903-1919); died, December 14, 1927 in Little Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
