PHELPS, Judson B., a Representative from Crawford County; born, December 12, 1836 in Russia, Herkimer County, NY; attended, Grand River Institute; quartermaster sergeant, Company I, 59th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1861-1865, Civil War); farmer; proprietor, Phelps cheese factory (1873-1893); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1897 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1899 term; died, June 16, 1906 in Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Penn Line Cemetery, Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
