PHILLIPS, Thomas Jones, a Representative from Chester County; born, December 23, 1846 in Atglen, Chester County, Pa.; Sc.B., Lewisburg College (now Bucknell University), 1867; store clerk; assistant messenger, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1873); proprietor, Hiberni Iron Works (1873-1877); farmer and dairyman; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1882); justice of the peace and school director, Atglen; deputy coroner, Chester County; director and vice president, Christiana National Bank; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1894 and 1896; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1898); president, Atglen National Bank; died, April 9, 1939 in Atglen, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Penningtonville Cemetery, Atglen, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
