SCHOFIELD, James, a Representative from Centre County; born, March 20, 1848 near Belfast, Ireland; apprentice, harness making; proprietor, harness and saddle business; school director (3 years); appointed, overseer of the poor, Centre County (1886-1891); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1892 and 1896; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1894); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); died, December 21, 1926 in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
