RICE, Hampton, a Representative from Bucks County; born, March 24, 1844 in Solebury Township, Bucks County, Pa.; attended, Excelsior Normal Institute, Carversville, Pa.; school director; farmer; engaged, fertilizer sales; member, Bucks County Republican Committee (1893-1894); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1894 and 1896; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1899-1902); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the Senate (1902); died, May 26, 1926 in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Solebury Friends Burying Grounds, Solebury, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
