THOMPSON, John H., a Representative from Wayne County; born, July 30, 1835 in Crawford, Orange County, NY; farmer; butcher; employed, Pennsylvania Coal Co.; proprietor, harness store; elected, tax collector, Palmyra Township and Hawley, Wayne County (1870-1874); elected, assessor, Palmyra Township and Hawley (1872-1874); elected, justice of the peace (1880-1896); elected, chief burgess, Hawley (1892-1902); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1898; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1900); died, June 3, 1909 in Hawley, Wayne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hillside Cemetery, Middletown, Orange County, New York.
