HASSON, William, a Representative from Venango County; born, March 27, 1833 in Shippenville, Clarion County, Pa.; attended, Allegheny College; captain, Company I, 142nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); employed, general store; superintendent, iron furnace and coal mines; engaged, oil business; elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1872); president, First National Bank of Oil City; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875, 1876, 1883 and 1899 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1877, 1879, 1885, and 1901 terms; died, May 15, 1923 in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
