DEMPSEY, Richard Arthurs, a Representative from McKean County; born, April 26, 1837 in Venango County, Pa.; first lieutenant, Company E, 121st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War; prisoner of war, October, 1864-January, 1865); engaged, lumbering; farmer; engaged, mercantile business; engaged, oil production and refinery; high explosives manufacturer;  postmaster, United States Postal Service, McKean County (1 term) and Venango County (1 term); elected, school director, Bradford; elected, coroner, McKean County; elected, mayor, Bradford (1887-1888, 1893-1894); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1897 and 1899 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1901 term; died, December 19, 1915 in Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Hill Cemetery, Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
