PEOPLES, Hiram, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, February 14, 1835 in New Providence, Lancaster County, Pa.; attended, White Hall Academy; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); attended, A.N. Johnson’s Normal Music School; engaged in merchandizing; school teacher; vocal and music instructor; farmer; proprietor, fish hatcheries; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1876 and 1877; reelected to the House  in 1880, 1886, 1896 and 1898; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882, 1888, 1900); died, September 4, 1918 in New Providence, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, New Providence Mennonite Cemetery, New Providence, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
