McFARLANE, George Larimer, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, November 22, 1850 in Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pa.; attended, Western University of Pittsburgh (now University of Pittsburgh); graduated, Washington and Jefferson College, 1871; partner, William Welch & Company, wholesale grain and flour dealer (1871-1886); secretary, Pittsburgh Traction Company; general manager, Duquesne Traction Company; stock and bond broker, Darr, Luke, and Moore; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1894; reelected to serve for 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1900); unsuccessful campaign, register of wills, Allegheny County (1904); died, December 11, 1905 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
