KERNICK, Phyllis T., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Penn Hills Township, Allegheny County, Pa., December 14, 1924; graduated, Penn Hills High School; graduated, Robert Morris School of Business (now Robert Morris University); attended, Duquesne University and Point Park College (now Point Park University); attended, University of Pittsburgh, Institute of Local Government; secretary, Reed Smith law firm; elected, treasurer, Penn Hills Township (1969-1976); auditor, Allegheny County Hospital Development Authority; Allegheny Regional Planning Council, Governor’s Justice Commission; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1974, 1976 and 1978; resigned from the House, January 7, 1980; elected, mayor, Penn Hills Township (1980-1984); elected, council, Penn Hills Township (1994-1998); died, January 21, 2009 in Penn Hills Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
