POTT, George F., Jr., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., February 2, 1943; B.A., economics, Lafayette College, 1965; served, United States Army Reserves (1965-1971); Certified Public Accountant; member, Republican Committee, Richland Township (1974-1977); member, Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (1977-1980); member, Governor’s Toll Road Taskforce; chairman, Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Task Force on Economic Affairs; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1976; reelected to serve 4 more consecutive terms; appointed, Legislative Audit Advisory Commission (1981-1986; chair, 1983-1986); appointed, Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (1983-1986); appointed, Special Bipartisan Committee to Study the Impact on Pennsylvania Consumers of the Divestiture of AT&T (1984); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1986); unsuccessful candidate, Pennsylvania State Senate (1986); unsuccessful candidate, treasurer, Allegheny County (1975); died, September 5, 2001.
