JACKSON, George Washington, a Representative from Lebanon County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., September 19, 1924; graduated, Lebanon High School, 1943; graduated, Lebanon Business College, 1949; served, United States Marine Corps (1943-1945, World War II; 1950-1951, Korean War); employed, finance department, Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation; employed, Lebanon Valley Bank; yardmaster and traffic supervisor, Cornwall Railroad; field representative, Congressman John C Kunkel (4 years); administrative assistant, Congressman Edwin D. Eshelman (10 years) and Congressman Robert S. Walker (4 years); chair, Lebanon County Republican Party (8 years); president, Lebanon County Young GOP (4 years); elected, council, Mt. Gretna Borough; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1980; reelected to serve 4 more consecutive terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1990); died, July 6, 2023 in Rock HIll, York County, South Carolina.
