MOWERY, Harold F., Jr., a Representative from Cumberland County; born in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pa., January 4, 1930; graduated, Mechanicsburg Area High School, 1947; B.A., economics and psychology, Dickinson College, 1954; Chartered Life Underwriter degree, 1966; Insurance business owner: Professional Insurance Services, Inc., Mowery Associates, Inc., Gunn Mowery LLC, Professional Financial Advisors and Gaughen Insurance, Inc. (1966-2014); elected, board, Camp Hill School District (1969-1976); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1977 term and served 6 more consecutive terms; appointed, Select Committee on Three Mile Island (1979); appointed, Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee (1981-1982); appointed, Pennsylvania Public Television Network Commission (1983-1986); appointed, Special Investigative Lottery Task Fund Force (1984); appointed, House Select Committee on Long Term Care (1986-1988); appointed, vice-chair, Select Committee to Investigate Alcohol Abuse in Pennsylvania Institutions of Higher Education (1987-1988); appointed, board, State Employees’ Retirement System (1987-1988); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1990); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor (1990);  elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1993-2004); appointed, PennVEST (1999-2000); died, March 3, 2014 in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
