WOODRUFF, John I., a Representative from Snyder County; born in Selinsgrove, Snyder County, Pa., November 24, 1864; graduated, Missionary Institute (Susquehanna University), 1888; M.A., Bucknell University, 1890; honorary doctorate of letters, Wittenberg College; honorary LL.D., Waynesburg College; teacher; principal, Mifflin Academy (2 years); professor, Latin, English, rhetoric and philosophy, Susquehanna University (1892-1939; professor emeritus, 1939-1947); football coach, Susquehanna University (1892); president, Palatinate College, Myerstown (1894); acting president, Susquehanna University (1901-1902); dean, Susquehanna University (1903-1904); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1914); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1918 and 1920; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1922); died, May 8, 1962 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida.
