WITHERSPOON, John W., a Representative from Franklin County; born in Guilford Township, Franklin County, Pa., October 4, 1843; attended, Chambersburg Academy; served, Signal Corps, United States Army (1863-1865, Civil War); teacher; farmer; school director (9 years); elected, president commissioner, Franklin County (3 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1905 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1906 General election; died, February 27, 1921 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
