WHITMAN, William Fancher, is a Representative from Venango County; born in Utica, Venango County, Pa., January 21, 1855; attended, Utica Academy; graduated, New Lebanon Academy; teacher (4 years); store clerk, Crane & Company (1879-1881); proprietor, mercantile business (1881-1942); elected, Plum Township school board (12 years); elected, treasurer, Plum Township (14 years); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Plum Township (25 years); bill book clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1903-1906); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1907 term; unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House for the 1909 term; reelected to the House to serve the 1911 and 1913 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1915 term; died, July 2, 1942; interred, Millcreek Cemetery, Utica, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
