BURD, James M., a Representative from Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence Counties; born in Butler County, Pa., March 31, 1931; graduated, Winfield-Clinton High School; graduated, Montreal School of Underwriting; served, Signal Corps, 7th Infantry Division, United States Army (1952-1954, Korean War); small businessman (22 years); president, Southeast Area Chamber of Commerce; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1976; served 6 more consecutive terms; appointed, Pennsylvania State Board of Vehicle Manufacturers, Dealers and Salespersons; appointed, Select Committee on Safe Drinking Water (1984); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House in the 1990 General election; died, March 18, 2013 in Saxonburg, Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery, Saxonburg, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
