TRESCHER, Maud Mellon Byers, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, December 28, 1876 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pa.; graduated, Jeannette High School, 1894; reporter, publisher and manager, Jeannette Dispatch; elected, school board, Jeannette (1921); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1924; unsuccessful Prohibition Party campaign for reelection to the House (1926, 1928); trustee, Torrance State Hospital; vice president, Pennsylvania School Directors’ Association (1937); died, May 6, 1940 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
